Sahara India Pariwar is one of the largest India based corporate conglomerates that have diverse business interests that includes infrastructure and housing, information technology, media and entertainment and consumer merchandise retail venture. Recently the company has signed a memorandum of Understanding with Bangladesh government to invest in modern buy budget township schemes. This move of Sahara India Pariwar will provide a better living to people of Bangladesh at low prices. The MoU was signed by owner and Chairman of Sahara India Pariwar - Subrata Roy Sahara and Joint Secretary (Development) of Housing and Public works – Syed Matlubur Rahmand and RAJUK Chairman Nurul Huda.
The MoU was signed in the presence of State Minister for Housing and Public Works Abdul Mannan Khan. According to the MoU, Sahara India Pariwar is capable for building some township around Dhaka. Sahara India Pariwar is going to set up an office in Dhaka very soon to take the process further. They are working hard to create a proposal and then to submit it to the government to finalize a deal as soon as possible. Though MoU signed between government and Sahara India Pariwar does not have any legal binding, however it contains the intention of the government and Sahara India Pariwar to work together for the development of Bangladesh.
According to Subrata Roy Sahara , this housing projects would be designer in ways that are different from those of Bangladesh real estate firms. His emotional attachment to the country from the childhood has made him to invest here. He has heard so much about Bikrampur, a small place located near Dhaka from his mother. After the partition of the subcontinent in the year 1947, his family migrated to India. This was the first visit of Subrata Roy Sahara to Bangladesh. He feels extremely pleasure at the chance of working in Bangladesh. Besides business interest, he have a social and sentimental interest with this project.
For implementation of this low cost township he will be requiring around 200 acres of land where all types of facilities such as power back up, pure drinking water supply, prayer halls, educational institutions, community centre, hospital, large cricket ground and swimming pool will be provided to the residents. The investment amount of this residential township would be some billions of dollars. it is a great initiative by Sahara India Pariwar to enhance the living style of low income groups of Bangladesh.
