The new and ultra modern state-of-the-art stadium built by the Maharashtra Cricket Association (MCA) on the outskirts of Pune is being named after Subrata Roy Sahara, the Chairman and Managing Worker of the Sahara Group. This stadium is known as Subrata Roy Sahara Stadium. This announcement was made by ICC President Mr. Sharad Pawar. Initially the stadium was planned to be named after Sahara India Group but due to technical reasons MCA thought of naming the state-of-the-art stadium after the name of the visionary Chairman and Managing Worker of Sahara India Pariwar, as Subrata Roy Sahara Stadium.
Sahara will have naming rights for the stadium in perpetuity.
Sahara will build an ultra modern club at the site of the stadium with modern amenities and facilities with 40 rooms at their own cost and will get rights to sell membership for the club. Pune Warriors team will make this stadium as their base and home ground. This ultra modern stadium is designed by world renowned architects. Sahara India Pariwar with its own team in Pune turned out to be the best and most interested bidder. Their offer for the naming and ancillary rights was unanimously accepted by the MCA. This cricket stadium will be a boon for the millions of cricket fans and lovers of Pune and Maharashtra.
